The Gimex technical ceramics B.V. story began on 1 December 1984 with its founder, Johan Geurts. Mr. Geurts started the company in a building at De Chamotte in the town of Geldermalsen.

Gimex began by importing and exporting technical ceramics and/or derivatives, providing technical advice and carrying out or subcontracting construction and engineering work.

Now, 33 years later, Gimex remains your adviser and supplier of technical ceramics components.

Over the years, there have been a number of changes; Gimex’s history in a nutshell:

In 2002 Gimex was acquired by Hanwel Europe B.V. and, in 2003, Frans Wouters became Managing Director. In 2006, the Hanwel trading group, which included Gimex, merged with Indutrade AB, Sweden. At the beginning of 2016, Gimex moved from Geldermalsen to Helmond, sharing premises with its sister company, Ammertech (Bearing and Drive Technology). On 1 January 2017, Frans Wouters handed the helm to Jan van den Hurk, who was subsequently appointed Managing Director of Gimex.

Customer-specific products

Technical ceramics are used in many industries, from the semiconductors industry to dredging. Most products supplied by Gimex are custom-made and manufactured according to customers’ drawings or patterns. Gimex also supplies various standard products.

Gimex supplies its products to customers at home and abroad, with a concentration of customers in the Netherlands and Belgium. Gimex products are also used by customers in many other European countries (including Germany, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, UK, Spain), and further afield (USA, China, New Zealand).

Gimex’s focus has always been on technical ceramics products. Indeed, Gimex is regularly approached by customers who have seen other materials specified in drawings, and, where possible, we always endeavour to find the best possible solution.
